MOVIES & MEANING EXPERIENCE 2018 - THE DRAFT SCHEDULE

We're delighted to announce the early schedule for the 2018 Movies & Meaning Experience, taking place April 26th-28th, at the Diana Wortham Theatre in downtown Asheville, NC.

Now in its fourth year, Movies & Meaning is a three day conference, festival and community gathering, sharing better stories for better lives and a better world. It’sJ a life-changing experience of wisdom, inspiration, challenge and connection.

We’ll tell seven stories paired with seven conversations, and seven opportunities for positive change - featuring special guests in person including: Alice Walker - Pulitzer Prize winning author of The Color Purple. Mira Nair - Academy Award nominated, Golden Globe & BAFTA winning filmmaker. James McLeary - transformational leader and CEO of the Inside Circle Foundation. Brian McLaren - acclaimed author and activist. Gareth Higgins - Irish peace activist, writer & storyteller, and founder of Movies & Meaning.

We’ll host screenings of iconic classics, overlooked gems, and brand new films, including a very special screening of Queen of Katwe followed by a public conversation between its director Mira Nair and Alice Walker; and regional premieres of Summer in the Forest, a transcendent film about the history of the L’Arche movement which The Guardian calls “breathtakingly beautiful,” followed by a workshop teaching tools for solidarity with vulnerable people; and The Work - a powerful documentary about “masculinity detox” in prison, followed by a conversation with the work’s own pioneer.

The Movies & Meaning Experience takes place in the Diana Wortham Theatre in downtown Asheville, NC, one of the most creative and beautiful small cities in the US. Registration for the full three day event is $299, but we offer sliding scale registration fees to enable folk to come and pay less (you can support the community by contributing more if you like!)
